Parliamentarian Rathika Sitsabaiesan honoured slain Canadian solider Cpl. Nathan Cirillo as his hearse drove past Toronto on route to be repatriated last Friday.

She joined residents of Scarborough to line the 401 overpass at McCowan road as the motorcade passed through the busiest stretch of highway in the world.

“We are country of love and it is absolutely unfortunate that Cpl. Nathan Cirillo’s life was taken too quickly from us,” Sitsabaiesan told lankareporter.com.

“I am standing on the bridge at McCowan Road and Highway 401 with community members in Scarborough to make our final salute to Cpl. Cirillo as he passes by in the motorcade.”

Sitsabaiesan said she spoke to her colleagues who were shaken up by the attack in Ottawa. She says bullet holes  reached the NDP caucus door.

“There were bullet holes in our caucus room door, we’re very lucky there were multi-doors with high levels of padding,” she said.
