TIFF premiere: Bollywood’s ‘most versatile’ actress stars in boxing biopic

The Toronto International Film Festival will host a premiere next month for one of the most anticipated films in Bollywood.   A thrilling biopic on World Boxing Champion and Olympic bronze medalist Mary Kom will star Priyanka Chopra in a demanding role.
TIFF’s artistic director Cameron Bailey paid tribute to the lead star in the movie, for ability to transform into tough roles on the silver screen.
“Priyanka Chopra is one of Bollywood’s brightest and most glamorous superstars. She’s also one of its most versatile: a chart-topping recording artist, former Miss World, and a gifted actor who has won equal acclaim for her muscular action-film roles and studied dramatic turns.,” Bailey said in his citation on the film.
“Never before, however, has she achieved a transformation as comprehensive, or as compelling, as she does in Mary Kom.
