Thambiaiyah Sivakumaran passes away

Thambiaiyah Sivakumaran, 66, passed away peacefully on October 6th, 2021 surrounded by his
loving family. Born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, Sivakumaran came to Canada in 1984. There he stayed
for 3 years before moving to the United States in 1987. Making his home in New Jersey, he has
resided in Bayonne for the last 33 years.

A graduate of St. John’s College in Jaffna, after completing his Articleship, he embarked on his
career as an Internal Audit Accountant at Ceylon Cold Stores, Ltd in Colombo. His steadfast
work ethic and sharp mind fashioned him into an admired leader and pillar in the financial
community.

Sivakumaran was a highly successful Chartered Accountant for over four decades, working
around the globe – in Canada, USA, Ireland, England, and India. Operating as the Vice President
in several leading Investment Banks within New York City’s financial district, he took up the role
as Director of Finance at Credit Agricole CIB.

Affectionately known as Sivar, was first and foremost a family man. It was well-known that in
both his personal and professional life, he was always ready to give his time to others, to help
as a mentor and just offer friendly advice and encouragement. He will be profoundly missed by
many for his notable compassion, humor, wit, wisdom, and altruism. A true gentleman in all
respects.

He is the beloved husband of his devoted wife Benita Sivakumaran, doting father of Drs. Joseph
and Dharshini Sivakumaran, and cherished father-in-law of Janan Rajaratnam.

Precious son of the late Sinnathamby and Anamuthu Thambiaiyah (Urumpirai, Sri Lanka). Kind
and loving brother of Sivamalar (AU), Dr. Ariamalar (UK), Vasanthamalar (AU), Mathyvathany
(AU), Sugantha (AU) and Balakumaran (UK). Respected brother-in-law of Sundaralingam (AU),
the late Suntharanathan (UK), Raviendran (AU), Jeyakumaran (AU), Raviskanthan (AU) and Viji
(UK).

Devoted son-in-law of the late Saverimuthu and Cecilia Anthonypillai (Negombo, Sri Lanka).
Also, loving brother-in-law of Jacintha & Dr. Mohanraj, Neilia & Dr. Emmanuel, Rajitha &
Ganeshan, Terrencia & Selventhiran, Pastors Sherina & Thiriloganathan (CA), Marina &
Thurainaygam, Rajan & Nila, and Priya & Vytheswaran.

Loving uncle of Drs. Aravinthan & Ananth (AU), Drs. Janarthanan & Aarani (UK), Drs. Thanushan
& Ambujaan (AU), Drs. Thuvaraka & Nanthanan (AU), Drs. Subahari & Mayuri (AU), Tchami,
Tchanu & Kasmeera, Amirthi, Drs. Mirnalini & Sharmila, Romila, Drs. Neelmini & Pamela, and
Adrian, Shantha & Dr. Senthilraj, Sharlini, Joshua & Zaneeta, Jehan, Ryan, Dylan & Serena,
Ashwini & Inesh, and Satheesh (Sri Lanka) and loving grand uncle to many precious little ones.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 from 4-8 PM at the Caiola-Stellato Funeral
Home (691 Avenue C, Bayonne, NJ 07002). A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on
Friday at 6:30 PM. The funeral mass will follow on Saturday, October 16th, 2021 at 9:30 AM at
St. Henry RC Church (82 W. 29th Street, Bayonne, NJ 07002). We respectfully request all family,
friends and acquaintances to join us in honoring Sivakumaran.

Memorial contributions may be made in Sivakumaran’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research
Hospital.
