Steeve Vakeeswaran, former student of Colombo International School (CIS) is among a team four second year commerce students from Queen’s University who reached the regional finals in the international Hult Prize Competition.
The Hult Prize is considered to be the world’s largest annual student competition designed to solve the world’s toughest challenges. Winners receive US$1-million in seed capital, as well as mentorship and advice from the international business community. Team was selected from a record breaking pool of over 20,000 applications received to participate in this game changing initiative.
According to a campus publication, Vakeeswaran along Jessica Peters, Gregory Fedele and Hao Chen Sang, were seeking sponsors to help offset the costs of competing in the regional finals in Boston in March.
The Global Final will be hosted by President Bill Clinton at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) annual meeting, which takes place the third week of September during UN Week.
The subject of the 2015 Hult Prize challenge is “Early Childhood Education in the Urban Slum and Beyond.” The topic was chosen by President Bill Clinton, who selects the topic each year and hosts the Hult Prize global finals at the Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting in New York.
