‘Sri Lankan Youth of Toronto’ launched

Sri Lankan Youth of Toronto, a newly formed group consisting of youth of Sri Lankan origin in the GTA, successfully held their launch event on June 21 at Brampton Credit View Park.
“With the growing frustration of not having a platform for the Sri Lankan Youth to express themselves here in Toronto, this group’s main idea is to create a common platform where all those who are with a Sri Lankan Origin can connect with each other irrespective of their background. Going beyond the race and religion and standing as one Sri Lankan group is their prime motive,” SLYT said in a press release.
Their first event which was a Sports Carnival consisting of a six a side Cricket Tournament and a 7 a Side Soccer Tournament concluded with a huge crowd gathering. Also it had many sporting activities which were attended by all of whom were presented at the occasion from young to old.
SLYT invited youth to join their group and thanked their sponsors from the launch event.

“Organising committee would like to thank all the sponsors who supported on this event. Anyone who is interested in becoming a member can simply join with the group by sending an email to the following email address srilankanyouthoftoronto@gmail.com  or adding into the official Facebook fan page,” the release added.
