Sri Lankan American, Patrick Rutnam, was elected out of 59 candidates to represent the Democratic party in support of Bernie Sanders, in a delegation of 7, representing California District 30 which represents the San Fernando Valley in the city of Los Angeles at the Democratic Convention in Philadelphia.

Mr. Rutnam, is the son of George and Sonya Rutnam,and grandson of the late Evelyn and
Dr James T. Rutnam.

His late uncle Rajah Rutnam was the first Sri Lankan migrate to the United Sates in 1953.
