Welcoming new high commissioner to Sri Lanka from Canada.

The Sri Lanka–Canada Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce hosted a reception in Colombo to welcome Isabelle Martin, High Commissioner of Canada to Sri Lanka, while also marking the council’s 35th anniversary.

More than 180 members, partners and invited guests attended the event, reflecting growing interest in strengthening bilateral trade, investment and professional collaboration between the two countries.

The reception also recognized 35 years of the council’s operations in Sri Lanka. The milestone highlights the organization’s role in promoting business partnerships, policy engagement and professional links between Sri Lanka and Canada.

A ceremonial cake cutting was held during the event to mark the anniversary.

The evening was led by M. H. K. M. Hameez, president of the Sri Lanka–Canada Business Council, together with members of the council’s leadership team who coordinated the reception.

Organizers said the gathering served both as a welcome to the High Commissioner and as an opportunity for members and stakeholders to engage and strengthen business connections.

The council said it will continue to support its members and promote dialogue that advances economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and Canada.
