Will Lay’s Butter Chicken flavour become a permanent fixture in Canadian supermarket shelves?
Mississauga’s Darryl Francispillai hopes he will win-over Canadian taste buds with his Butter Chicken flavour, the Ontario finalist in a national Lay’s contest.
He is one of four finalists selected from some 950,000 flavour submissions.
A win would be handy for the couple, as the flavour finalist that garners the most votes will win the $50,000 grand prize plus one per cent of their flavour’s future sales once the voting period ends.
The Lay’s Do Us a Flavour contest has been held in numerous countries around the world and has generated an incredible response with millions of flavour submissions. Since 2013, the Canadian contest has received more than 2.7 million flavour ideas from fans across the country. Voting this year ends on Sept. 30, 2015. A longtime food lover, Francispillai jumped at an opportunity to select Lay’s Canada next flavour of potato chips. “Butter chicken has been one of my favorite dishes,” he says.
