A 52 year-old mother of two was killed yesterday when the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) bus she was boarding was hit head-on by a truck in Scarborough. Relatives told  local media Manoranjana Kanagasabapathy was traveling to work at a bank after attending a Hindu temple on Tuesday morning.

“The truck crossed into the westbound lanes, mounted the curb, struck a hydro pole, struck the right-front corner of the bus, where a 52-year-old woman was boarding, and struck a 43-year-old woman who had exited the bus,” police said. The 43 year-old woman is still fighting for her life in hospital, 11 others were hurt.  Hydro electricity in the area was cut 5,000 customers temporarily as the impact of the crash knocked out a hydro pole.
