Michael Ignatieff to host Q&A for Lankan film Ini Avan

Michael Ignatieff former Canadian Leader of Opposition, renowned writer and journalist will host an extended question and answer following Monday’s screening of Lankan film Ini Avan (Him, Here, After) directed by Asoka Handagama.

Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director for Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) says Ignatieff was an ideal choice to host Q&A since was knowledgeable on Sri Lanka’s civil war as a Senior Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs.

Bailey describes the film  as  a “beautifully elegiac meditation on the aftermath of war.”

Bailey who first watched the film in Cannes describes Ini Avan as “a beautifully elegiac meditation on the aftermath of war.” Handagama’s film in Tamil is one the first feature lenghth films to emerge from Sri Lanka in the aftermath of civil war, touches a series of social issues as a former LTTE cadre returns home to devastated North and East facing hostility and suspicion.
