Sri Lanka’s popular film weekly Sarasaviya held its 32nd film awards ceremony recently.
Machan, a Sinhala film directed by an Italian, which made its debut at the Toronto International Film and Venice Film Festival in 2008 vied for the major honours at the festival.
The film directed by Uberto Pasolini and produced by Prassanna Vithanage emerged as the best film of the year among the 19 selected for the festival.
The movie is based on a bizarre 2004 incident involving a Sri Lankan handball team that vanished in Germany.
