Lankan band ‘D Major’ to perform in Canada for first time

D Major is one of the most admired bands in Sri Lanka who has a reputation for flair and flamboyance. Their stunning stage performance gives the utmost satisfaction to their audience wherever they perform. Whether it is a dinner dance, wedding, concert or a corporate event they completely and passionately commit to pledge their devotion. The Band’s tasteful fusion of musical styles was created by the saxophonist along with his team of six gifted musicians who are multi- talented. Six-year-old ‘D Major thrive to be the best and has made meaningful connections with their audience. Their performances are a true reflection of their dedication, passion, grace, skill and experience which makes their music so powerful. Their most recent performance on Valentine’s Day, “Weddingtine 2018” was a huge success exclusively catered to the ‘Brides to be’ planning their weddings. This was an unique concept with a different touch that left the audience mesmerized.

Hector Dias, the saxophonist, lead vocalist and the band leader of D Major was a proud member of National Youth Orchestra. The ex Marians’ fame released two albums in 2004 and 2012 during his 14-year career with the band. Though Hector has been a ground breaking force among the sax elite in Sri Lanka, he rose to fame following two very soulful original songs. The melody was very infectious and was hitting the Sri Lankan music charts.

International Fan Base

Geeth Prasanna, winner of ‘YES Superstar’ shares the platform with Hector with his very deep voice adds great value to the band with his versatility and different genre of music he sings. Roshila Hettiarachchi- Lead Guitarist/Vocalist, Lahiru Premathunga- on keyboard, Mahesh Athukorala -Base Guitar, Melon Perera, Percussionist who enthrall the audience with his talent playing the Conga and Bongo with an unique style and the drummer Pulasthi Gunawardana who joined the band with a wealth of experience was an ex member of DeeZone.

They expanded their fan-base internationally by catering to a global audience in 2015 with their inaugural tour to Australia. They performed to sold out audiences in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. This year they have invitations to perform in United Kingdom, Australia, Dubai and will bring their music to North America in November for a series of dinner dances. The tour will commence in Washington – DC on November 03rd and will continue with New Jersey on November 10th, Toronto – Canada on November 17th, Vancouver- Canada on November 24th and will end In Texas – USA on December 01st. Their unique blend of Sinhala and English songs ranging from nostalgic 70s to romantic blues, pop, soft-rock, reggae to our very own Baila and Papare will leave the audience with a memorable entertaining experience.
