Lakshman Malalasekera passes away

Lakshman Malalasekera, who worked on Ceylon Daily News editorial in the 1970s,
passed away in Germany on September 9. He was a crime and political reporter and left Sri
Lanka for Iran to work in a newspaper in 1978.

Malalasaekera was born in Malamulla, Panadura, and had three brothers (Tissa, Kapila,
Nanda) and two sisters (Pushpa and Asoka), who predeceased him. Asoka also worked on
the Daily News editorial in the early 80s.

He went to Germany in 1979, married Claudia Messmer, and had a daughter (Samantha) and a
son (Clemens). The Funeral will be held on September 22 at 4 pm in Freiburg, Germany,
according to Messmer family sources.
