Toronto Mayoral candidates John Tory and Olivia Chow are set participate in debate hosted by the South Asian community, including Sri Lankans Without Borders (SLWB).

Topics of the debate will include issues in the South Asian community in Toronto, and will be moderated by Global News’ Angie Seth.

Earlier this week John Tory said he would review his participation in such debates, if fellow contender Doug Ford refused to attend.

“John Tory has attended nearly 30 debates since the campaign began, four this week so far, and will attend three more before the week is out. He looks forward to attending more,” the Tory campaign said in press statement.

“However, the unexplained absence of Doug Ford from most of these debates, and, at others, last minute rule changes, including additions and deletions to the debating roster, raise questions about the productiveness of these discussions.

Going forward, the John Tory Campaign has decided to review on a case-by-case basis whether to attend debates that don’t exclusively feature the three main contenders.”

The Tory campaign said campaign resources were being used for debate preparation.

The SLWB co-hosted debate will take place this evening at Ryerson University.
