Jaffna Central College’s Canada alumni fundraiser for Heart and Stroke Foundation

Jaffna Central College Old Boys Association of Canada (JCCOBA, Canada) hosted their 22nd annual walk-a-thon and picnic at the Morningside Park located near the University of Toronto of Scarborough.

For the past 22 years, JCCOBA have been donating the funds raised from their annual walkathon to The Hospital for Sick Children (over $50,000) and to The Heart & Stroke Foundation (Over $30,000). This year’s annual walkathon and picnic was well attended and raised a record amount exceeding the target for a noble cause.

JCCOBA selected Heart and Stroke Foundation, once again as the recipient of the funds raised this year. The donation cheque in the amount of $11,270 was presented after the walk.

JCCOBA President Esa Para thanked all the donors and fundraisers. A special thanks to the members of sister school Vembadi Old Girls Association (VOGA) for their participation, contribution and support this year and in the previous years.

Despite initial concerns over the weather, all planned activities were successfully executed and everyone had a great time, said the chairperson Mr. Krish Jeyanathan.
