Inaugural gala for Thurstan College Old Boys Union in Canada

The first-ever dinner dance organized by Thurstan College Old Boys Union in Canada, “Night of the Knights” was held recently at the Claireport Place Banquet & Convention Center in Etobicoke, Ontario. This event was well attended by Thurstan Old Boys, their families, friends, and the public.

The main purpose of the dance was to celebrate the 74th Founder’s Day of Thurstan College. There was a cake-cutting ceremony that took place at the start of the event to grace the occasion. Spades Band provided live music joined by DJ MJ and Dewakie Kothalawala was the guest artist. A special feature of the occasion was the Sri Lankan-style Papare Band was played to entertain the gathering and it was the first time folks in Toronto got to taste live Papare Music.

Famous Sri Lankan Music group Marians Band former Saxophonist Shehan Jayasuriya performed with the Trumpet for Blueprints Papare Band. Well-established dancing group “Kethroo” dances brought color to the occasion. A gourmet buffet was available with a variety of Sri Lankan-style food. Door prizes and Raffle draw offered an opportunity to participants to win prizes. Thurstan College Old Boys Union produced one of the best dances witnessed in Toronto and all who attended had a wonderful time. Realtor Ragu Paramsothy, AFC Heating, and Complete Energy Solutions were the main sponsors of the event.
