Sri Lanka’s most acclaimed band DOCTOR kicks off its inaugural North America tour in Toronto on March 23, 2019. The band DOCTOR is led by the young and energetic Lanthra Perera who hails from a musical family. He is the nephew of Baila Sensation Sunil Perera of Gypsies and the son of Nimal Perera who was the original bassist of the Gypsies.
DOCTOR is revolutionizing Sri Lankan music by preparing their creative energies in a whole new direction, releasing their first Original Music Video “Aththamai Kiyanne” in 2008 and their most popular Song “Mage Girl Friend” in year 2010 which was awarded as the Best Baila Genre Music Video at Derana Music Video Awards 2011. Recent release includes “Maduru Dangara”, “Aya enathura”, “Sakayak”. “Kaurundo”, “Mathwee” which all made it to number one on Sri Lanka’s charts.

The band comprises of Lanthra Perera a product of St Peters college Colombo is the leader, vocalist and guitarist. Krishan Perera is the co-founder, vocalist and keytarist. Kushal Abeywickrama – vocalist and guitarist. Hashan Jayathilake – Bass guitarist. Maheeth Kumar – Drums. Shalindra De Silva – Keyboardist. Kanishka Gunawardana – Sound Engineer and Nimal Perera – Manager.
Doctor has performed in numerous prestigious dances and events internationally to name few; Lanka Lions Dance in Singapore, Ananda College Dance in Australia, Ms. Sri Lanka in France Finale, Commonwealth Bidding in West Indies. Also, some of the most renowned dances in Sri Lanka starting from the 31st Night Dinner Dances in years 2018 and 2017 for the most prestigious five star property in Sri Lanka from Hilton Hotel chain, whilst been the top choice for Sri Lanka’s most eminent dinner dances such as the Travel Trade Ball, Tea Trade Ball etc.
EIGHT CITIES IN TOUR
Lanthra Perera, “we are exited to perform in 8 cities at the beginning of 2019, starting off this February in Down under – Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Followed by our inaugural N American tour which consists of Toronto, New Jersey, Los Angeles and Washington in March-April and are looking forward to entertaining our audiences”. The band doesn’t stick to one genre of music and are capable of playing to any kind of audience whatever their musical preference maybe and we constantly update the music adding newer songs to our repertoire which sets us apart from most other bands in Sri Lanka.
