Diwali, also known as the festival of lights in the Hindu culture, is the most celebrated South Asian cultural festival in the world. Presented by Canada Dry, the annual DiwaliFest returns to Bramalea City Centre (BCC) on October 28 to 30. This three-day festival promises to bring exciting family activities both on and off the stage.
Details of the event were announced at a press conference at BCC, hosted by DJ Swati Gupta of CMR 101.3FM. Brampton Councillor Pat Fortini was among the organizers, sponsors and representatives from various community organizations at the event.
“This is our third year at BCC and we are absolutely thrilled about our program lineup this year” says Henry Chiu of Purple Integration, the festival’s co-organizer. “Thanks to partners such as BCC and Canada Dry, we are able to bring three days of cultural festivities to one of Canada’s most diverse communities.”
Beginning Friday, Oct 28, the 30-foot stage will be filled with activities throughout the weekend. Some of the highlights include a talent show competition with six teams competing for prizes, a live band, cultural dance and much more. A special performance by a Bollywood star will also be announced shortly. There will also be an hourly draw on stage with prizes include BCC gift certificates, a trip for two on VIA trip traveling anywhere between Windsor and Quebec, CIBC Diwali commemorative coins, Chatr gift pack, just to name a few.
