A.R. Rahman honoured with street name in Markham city

Internationally renowned singer, songwriter, musician and producer A.R. Rahman recieved the rare honour of  having a street named after him in the city of Markham in Canada today. Rahman was joined by Mayor Frank Scarpitti, Members of Council and the International Indian Film Festival Toronto (IIFFT) to celebrate 100 years of Indian Cinema

A.R. Rahman and the IIFFT selected Markham as their host venue for this special anniversary commemoration in reflection of Markham being Canada’s most diverse city.

There was a tribute to a century of Indian film making and also to A.R. Rahman for outstanding contribution to Bollywood, Hollywood and Broadway during a 45-minute ceremony.

The celebration took place at the Vedic Cultural Centre in Markham, Ontario.
