The Canadian cricket team departed for tour of Zimbabwe last week. The team included Sri Lankan-born players, long standing opener Ruvindu Gunasekera, Srimantha Wijeratne and Trevin Bastiampillai who was called in as stand-in.

Canada has the tough task of getting back their ODI status after losing it last February.

The man tasked with getting Canada back on track is their head coach Mukesh Narula a former Indian state player in Baroda.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe after loosing 8-0 in Bangladesh, welcomed their new coach Dav Whatmore, who will coach until the end of the World Cup which gets underway in Australia and New Zealand next month.

Whatmore was Sri Lanka’s coach when the under-dog nation famously won the World Cup in 1996.
