August: Osage County directed by John Wells was
screened at the 38th International Film Festival (TIFF)
this year. It’s an adaptation of Pulitzer Prize-winning play
writer Tracy Lett’s stage play.

The story begins in a family get-together after the death
of Beverly Weston (played by Sam Shepard) who was a
poet struggling with alcoholism in Oklahoma. His wife,
Violet (Meryl Streep) suffers from cancer and depends on
painkillers. The three daughters in the family, Barbra (Julia
Roberts), Julianne Nicholson and Juliette Lewis are dealing
with many problems in the family without talking to each
other face to face. Barbra who always tries to take the upper
hand and trying to dominate her mother fails and end up in
a chaotic situation. Even at the dinner table she accuses her
mother and says: “Father killed himself because of your behaviour”.
Then her mother replies, “He was very upset since
the day you left this home”. Barbra tries to dominate her
teenage daughter and forces her to eat fish. Ultimately she
says ‘I’m leaving’ and gets into her car and drives away.
When Barbra fails to control her mother she too decides to
leave her. This fantastic family comedy is a must see for
the whole family to sit together and watch. Julia Roberts
as Barbra shows her superb acting skills in August: Osage
county. Forty-five-year old mother of two still looked stunning
on the red carpet. She received Spotlight Award at the

Carnegie-Mellon School of
Fine Arts. He has worked
for many Television shows
including ER, Third Watch
and The West Wing. His
fist film was Company
Men (2010). Wells came on
stage after the public show
at the Winter Garden Theatre
and said: “The film will
be releasing during Christmas
time when families get
together. Though you don’t
wish to be a member of the
Weston clan, you’ll likely
recognize something in
your family in them”.
When everything goes
wrong, blaming and accusing
each other is the human
nature. When you try
to force and change others
they will try to keep away
from the domination and try
to be away from each other.

walked on the red carpet
at the gala premier held at
Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto.
George Clooney is one
of the producers for the
Weinstein Company which
