The 2016 season came to an end with the Academy having its most consistent season since the academy was formed in 2014.

 

Sanjayan Thuraisingam (Head Coach) and owner of Actionzone Indoor, a multi sports facility, should be commended on the countless hours of coaching provided both on and off the field.  His program, which combines fitness, technique and team work has proven yet again to be successful.

“Special thanks to our assistant Coaches Brian Rajadurai, Balaji Rao, Ingleton Liburd, Aditiya Varadarajan and Mathi Thanabalasingham for helping the youngsters with the many techniques and skills needed to play the game of Cricket,” Thuraisingam said.

 

The U13’s had an excellent season winning the Scarborough Cricket Association’s championship and 3rd place in the Toronto District Cricket league.  Great effort put in by these kids that range in age from 9 to 13.

The strength of the U13 team lay very much in the batting of Mihir Patel, who scored 850 runs which included two centuries and nine 50’s this season.

The U17’s had an unbelievable season winning Championship in both the Toronto District Cricket league and Scarborough Cricket league.  

These youngsters proved to be fearless on the field by finishing Runner-up in the 1st division and have been promoted to the premier division.  The 1st division is in collaboration with the Centurions Cricket Club, Sanjayan’s home team.

pecial mention has to be made to Krishan Samuel and Aran Pathmanathan for making the U19 Canadian National team and Harmanjeet Bedi for being part of the 30 man squad.

 

“Last and most importantly, we would like to thank Logan Ganapathipillai, Counsellor for ward 7, Carol Dimpfel and the Department of Sports field designation committee members at the City of Markham for granting us the use of Fairtree Cricket Grounds.  This was a great asset as the majority of our youngsters live in Markham. And the Scarborough League for allotting us to use the Ashtonbee grounds during our outdoor season, ” he added.
