Former Canada cricket coach Pubudu Dassanayake has joined Oman’s coaching staff as a consultant, working under the leadership of Sri Lankan cricket legend Duleep Mendis. This announcement came during a tri-series in Toronto.

Dassanayake, who played a crucial role in elevating Canada to its current One Day International (ODI) status, brings a wealth of experience to the Oman team. He previously led successful coaching campaigns for Nepal and the United States. Notably, his tenure with Canada ended after the World T20, where Canada secured a historic victory over Ireland, a full member Test nation.

Duleep Mendis, Oman’s head coach, is celebrated for guiding Sri Lanka to its first Test series win, defeating India 1-0 in 1985. Mendis also etched his name in cricket history with two centuries in a single Test against India in 1982. Beyond his playing career, he was instrumental in shaping Sri Lanka’s 1996 World Cup-winning team.
