Longtime Sri Lankan diplomat U.L.M. Jauhar has assumed his role in Ottawa as the new high commissioner-designate to Canada.
Mr. Jauhar, who will be Sri Lanka’s top diplomat in Canada, served most recently as the additional foreign secretary in Colombo. Earlier, he was the country’s ambassador to Kuwait.
He is familiar with Canada, having served as the consul general of Sri Lanka in Toronto six years ago.

Canada is home to the largest Sri Lankan diaspora outside Asia.
