CIMA Canada has invited Canadian high school cricketers to join the squad for a tour of Sri Lanka, a new destination under its award-winning Cricket Across the Pond (CAP) program.

CAP is supported by RBC Royal Bank since its inception in 2008.

While the tour itinerary is still being finalized the GTA School cricketers will play against school teams from Jaffna and youth teams from the Foundation of Goodness, a grassroots charity championed by Sri Lankan cricket legends Muralitharan, Sangakkara and Jayawardena. “CIMA Canada extends its sincere appreciation and thanks to Rev. Jero Selvanayagam – Rector St Patrick’s College, Jaffna, Radley Stephen – CIMA Sri Lanka and Kushil Gunasekera – Foundation of Goodness for their willing assistance in the tour planning” says Ranil Mendis, Chair of Branding & Public Relations for CIMA Canada.

Interested Canadian high school cricketers can apply for CAP scholarships by visiting cimacanada.org Tour dates: June 27 – July 10, 2015.

The annual CAP program is managed independently by CIMA and selects players aged 16 – 20 through a comprehensive screening process that evaluates candidates’ cricket skills on the field and community involvement though an interview process. Over the last seven years 90 young cricketers have been given the opportunity to travel to London, England under the CAP program. The program received international attention when the ICC presented CAP with the ICC Development Award for Promotion and Marketing in 2013. Building on this success, CIMA has added another hotbed of cricket – Sri Lanka as its overseas destination to deliver CAP program this summer.
