Coach Dharshana Fernando of ‘Fernando’s Youth Badminton Academy’ in Brampton has been selected as the Coach for the Toronto & District Badminton team that is participating at the Ontario Winter Games 2010.The Ontario Winter Games is a biennial multi-sport event featuring competition between Ontario regions in 23 sports.
The games provide young athletes with development and competition opportunities to prepare for national and international events. This year the grand sporting event is being hosted by the Muskoka region and will be held at the Bracebridge sports complex from 4th to the 7th March. Dharshana said that this is a prestigious appointment and he is honored to be selected out of many Chinese, Indonesian and Malaysian coaches in an around the greater Toronto area.
“This takes me one step closer of accomplishing my goal of becoming the Canadian team Badminton Coach,” said Dharshana, a former national champion.
