Sunny Gavaskar will meet cricket fans in the Toronto area at three events on Sunday.
Events to meet and greet Gavaskar in Markham, Mississauga and Brampton
MoneyGram announced today, legendary cricket player Sunil Gavaskar will be in the Toronto area this Sunday. The global money transfer company has invited cricket fans a chance to meet and greet the cricketer on Sunday at several events in the Toronto area.
On Sunday August 5, 2012 there will be three opportunities to meet the cricketer and commentator. In Markham, Gavaskar will visit a cricket league at the Markham Cricket Ground located at 10395 McCowan Road, (McCowan Road, North of Major Mackenzie Road South of Markham Fairgrounds) the event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In Mississauga, Gavaskar will visit a MoneyGram Agent at Golden Grocers 2975 Drew Road from 3.00-3.30pm. And in Brampton, the iconic cricketer will visit another MoneyGram Agent at Cantech Connections located at 630 Peter Robertson Blvd from 4.00pm-4.30pm.
Gavaskar serves as ambassador for MoneyGram as part of its multi-year agreement with the International Cricket Council (ICC). MoneyGram is serving as the official sponsor through 2015, after sponsoring the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 tournament in the West Indies.

A native of India, Gavaskar – nicknamed “Sunny” during his 17-year career – played for the India, Mumbai, and Somerset teams throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Known for his near-perfect technique, he is the only player to score 1,000 runs in a calendar year, and the first player to score 10,000 runs in Tests. Under his leadership, the India team won a number of tournaments, including the Asia Cup, Benson & Hedges World Cup, and the ICC Cricket World Cup. An author of four books about cricket, Gavaskar today serves as a television commentator and columnist for cricket.
