Donisha Prendergast grand-daughter of late Jamaican musician Bob Marley has interviewed Sudesh Muthu for her documentary film “Rasta” produced by Toronto-based Patricia Scarlett.
Sri Lankan-born Muthu set the world record for longest male dreadlocks in August, according to Guinness World Records in the United Kingdom. Captivated by the music of Bob Marley he began growing his hair 23 years ago in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
“I felt very empowered after hearing Sudesh’s story. For him to make the decision to grow his hair and introduce it in his own country, outside of Jamaican or African background was ground-breaking,” Prendergast told The Sri Lanka Reporter in Toronto.
The documentary is based on Rastafarianism and follows Prendergast on a personal journey across the UK, Jamaica, India, Isreal, Ethiopia and Canada since 2005 and will be released next year.
