Toronto Mayor John Tory today extended greetings to the Tamil community celebrating Thai Pongal. The festival marks the end of the harvest season.

“I want to wish you a warm and happy Thai Pongal. Thai Pongal Vaalthukal,” he said in a statement.

“As you gather with your families to celebrate this traditional festival of the end of the harvest season, it’s a great time to appreciate and be thankful for the many blessings we enjoy.
